ABSTRACT

Objective@#The purpose of this study was to investigate the state of depression and anxiety and assciated factors of back to school college students during the outbreak of COVID-19, so as to provide theoretical basis for emotional counseling and psychological crisis intervention after long term school closure due to epidemic outbreak.@*Methods@#Cluster sampling was used to select the first batch of 2 697 back to school students in a high vocational college. The survey content includes basic information questionnaire, Depression Self rating Scale (SDS) and Anxiety Self rating Scale(SAS).@*Results@#The detection rate of depression and anxiety was 31.8% and 10.4% respectively. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that the risk of depression in female college students was 1.28 times higher than that in male students. The risk of depression among college students with family loss experience caused by the outbreak of COVID-19 was 1.30 times that of those without family loss experience caused by the outbreak of COVID-19. Outgoing personality(OR=0.62), neutral (OR=0.55) and mild temper(OR=0.46), moderate frequency of physical exercise per week(1-2 times:OR=0.73, 3-4 times:OR=0.65) were protective effects for depression in college students.Low frequency of breakfast were the risk effects for depression in college. The risk of anxiety among college students who was the only child in the family was 1.61 times higher than that who was not the only child in the family. The risk of anxiety among college students with family loss experience caused by the outbreak of COVID-19 was 1.45 times higher than that college students without family loss experience caused by the outbreak of COVID-19. Neutral temper, mild temper and physical exercise 1-2 times a week were associated with lower level of anxiety in college students(OR=0.67,0.56,0.67). Breakfast skipping (OR=2.03) was associated with higher levvel of anxiety in college students.@*Conclusion@#During the outbreak of COVID-19, the first batch of back to school college students presented high level of depression. Colleges are suggested to promptly carry out effective emotional relief and psychological intervention for students, especially those whose family suffered in COVID-19, the only child in the family, with poor breakfast eating habits, as well as breakfast skipping and lack of physical exercise.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze the predictors of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) with intestinal symptoms as the first manifestation, and to provide evidence for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of the disease. Methods:From January 2013 to June 2020, the clinical data of 165 patients diagnosed with SLE and treated at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University were retrospectively analyzed. According to whether the intestinal symptoms were the first manifestations, they were divided into intestinal symptoms as the first manifestations group ( n=50) and intestinal symptoms not as the first manifestations group ( n=115). The baseline data, imaging findings, orgen involvement and laboratory indicators of the two groups were compared and analyzed. Independent sample t test, non-parametric test and chi-square test were used for statistical analysis. Logistic regression analysis was used to establish a prediction model of SLE with intestinal symptoms as the first manifestation. Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) and Hosmer-Lemeshow test were used to evaluate the predictive value of the model. From July 2020 to May 2021, the data of 72 SLE patients treated at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University were collected (22 patients with intestinal symptoms as the first manifestation and 50 patients with intestinal symptoms not the first manifestation), and the predictive power of the model was validated. Results:Compared with intestinal symptoms not as the first manifestation group, the proportions of patients with fever, muscle involvement and joint involvement in intestinal symptoms as the first manifestation group were lower, while the proportions of patients with polyserositis, ascites, edema and dilatation or thickening of intestines, hydronephrosis or dilatation of the ureter, kidney involvement, blood system involvement were higher, and the level of complement C3, level of complement C4, absolute lymphocyte value and albumin level were lower (67.8%, 78/115 vs. 32.0%, 16/50; 24.3%, 28/115 vs. 4.0%, 2/50; 68.7%, 79/115 vs. 14.0%, 7/50; 27.8%, 32/115 vs. 86.0%, 43/50; 16.5%, 19/115 vs. 78.0%, 39/50; 13.9%, 16/115 vs. 86.0%, 43/50; 4.3%, 5/115 vs. 62.0%, 31/50; 29.6%, 34/115 vs. 48.0%, 24/50; 30.4%, 35/115 vs. 52.0%, 26/50; 0.76 g/L, 0.43 to 0.97 g/L vs. 0.48 g/L, 0.40 to 0.57 g/L; 0.14 g/L, 0.08 to 0.23 g/L vs. 0.09 g/L, 0.06 to 0.15 g/L; 0.90×10 9/L, 0.51×10 9 to 1.28×10 9/L vs. 0.64×10 9/L, 0.44×10 9 to 1.08×10 9/L; (34.07±7.30) g/L vs. (28.77±5.43) g/L), and the differences were statistically significant ( χ2=18.246, 9.699, 41.776, 47.567, 57.781, 78.833, 67.903, 5.195 and 6.955, Z=-4.053, -3.295 and -2.204, t=-4.606; all P<0.05). The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that low level of complement C3 and low albumin level were risk factors of SLE with intestinal symptoms as the first manifestation (odds ratio 0.136, 95% confidence interval 0.031 to 0.590; odds ratio 0.923, 95% confidence interval 0.871 to 0.977; P=0.008 and 0.006). The established prediction model for SLE with intestinal symptoms as the first manifestation was p=1/(1+ e - Y), in which Y=2.906-1.994×complement C3 (g/L) -0.08×albumin (g/L). The area under the ROC was 0.761 (95% confidence interval 0.687 to 0.834, P<0.01). The result of Hosmer-Lemeshow test showed the model had good calibration ability ( χ2=13.024, P=0.111). The result of validation analysis showed that when p≥0.255 to predict SLE with intestinal symptoms as the first symptoms, the sensitivity of the model was 72.7% (16/22), the specificity was 76.0% (38/50), and the accuracy was 75.0% (54/72). Conclusions:The symptoms of SLE with intestinal symptoms as the first manifestations are obscure and easily misdiagnosed. When the imaging examination of patients with intestinal symptoms as the first manifestations shows edema and dilatation or thickening of intestines, hydronephrosis or dilatation of the ureter, or laboratory examination indicates low level of complement C3 and low albumin level, be wary of the possibility of SLE. Early diagnosis and intervention can greatly improve the prognosis of patients.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of salvianolate on rats with postoperative intestinal adhesion and to explore the prevention mechanism. METHODS: Forty SD male rats with intestinal adhesion were randomly divided into four groups: untreated group, low-dose salvianolate-treated group (12 mg/kg), medium-dose salvianolate-treated group (24 mg/kg) and high-dose salvianolate-treated group (48 mg/kg), with another ten SD male rats as normal control. Intraperitoneal injection of glucose was administered to the rats in the normal control group and the untreated group, and intraperitoneal injection of salvianolate was administered to the rats in the low-, medium- and high-dose salvianolate-treated groups. They were all treated for 8 days and once a day. On the eighth day after surgery the blood samples of each group were collected. Grades of intestinal adhesion were ranked by macroscopic observation. The adhesive tissues between viscera and belly wall were taken for pathological observation. The levels of interleukin-1beta (IL-1beta), interleukin-4 (IL-4) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) were determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. RESULTS: Salvianolate can significantly reduce the extent of postoperative intestinal adhesion, obviously decrease the levels of IL-1beta, TNF-alpha and inhibit the hyperplasy of fibrous connective tissue. However, there was no significant impact on the level of IL-4. CONCLUSION: Salvianolate can reduce the extent of postoperative intestinal adhesion, decrease the expression of IL-1beta and TNF-alpha and inhibit the hyperplasy of fibrous connective tissue. This may be the mechanism of salvianolate in preventing intestinal adhesion.

ABSTRACT

50% was defined as significant stenosis. Results A 98.7% (778/788) of the coronary artery segments (vessel diameter ≥1.5 mm) could be visualized by 64-slice spiral CT. Compared with catheter angiography in the detection of coronary stenosis, the overall sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and the accuracy of 64-slice CT coronary angiography were 81.9%, 99.0%, 95.9%, 95.1%, and 95.2% respectively. Overall sensitivity would be 91.8% if corrected methodologically. The sensitivity after methodological correction became 91.8%. Conclusion Sixty-four-slice spiral CT examiniation provides a promising non-invasive approach in detecting coronary stenosis with fairly good accuracy, but can not totally replace catheter coronary angiography yet.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo identify predictors of left atrial appendage stunning after the use of electrical cardioversion to restore sinus rhythm in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation.

METHODSA total of 68 consecutive patients (45 men, 23 women, 60.5 +/- 8.7 years of age) with non-valvular atrial fibrillation undergoing electrical cardioversion were enlisted in this study. Clinical and echocardiographic variables were analyzed by univariate regression and multivariate logistic regression to investigate the relationship between occurrences of left atrial appendage stunning and these factors.

RESULTSUnivariate analysis revealed that, in comparing patients without and with left atrial appendage stunning, there were significant differences in the duration of atrial fibrillation > 8 weeks (32.3% vs 75.5%, P < 0.001), left atrial diameter > 50 mm (29.0% vs 54.1%, P < 0.05), left atrial emptying fraction (31.5% +/- 7.8% vs 27.1% +/- 8.5%, P < 0.05), left ventricular ejection fraction < 50% (38.7% vs 67.6%, P < 0.05), maximum electrical energy (96.8 J +/- 65.8 J vs 156.8 J +/- 100.8 J, P < 0.01), cumulative electrical energy 146.8 J +/- 142.6 J vs 290.5 J +/- 242.1 J, P < 0.01) and number of electrical cardioversion shocks (1.7 +/- 0.9 vs 2.43 +/- 1.20, P < 0.05). However, backward stepwise multivariate logistic regression analysis identified as significant and independent predictors of left atrial appendage stunning only duration of atrial fibrillation > 8 weeks (OR = 7.249, 95% CI = 1.998 - 26.304, P < 0.01), left atrial diameter > 50 mm (OR = 3.896, 95% CI = 1.105 - 13.734, P < 0.05), left ventricular ejection fraction < 50% (OR = 4.465, 95% CI = 1.51713.140, P < 0.01) and cumulative energy of electrical cardioversion (OR = 1.004, 95% CI = 1.000 - 1.008, P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONSDuration of atrial fibrillation > 8 weeks, left atrial diameter > 50 mm, left ventricular ejection fraction < 50%, and cumulative energy of electrical cardioversion are independent predictors of left atrial appendage stunning. Anticoagulation treatment should be individualized for patients undergoing electrical cardioversion to reduce the risk of both cardioversion-related thromboembolic events and hemorrhagic complications caused by warfarin treatment.

ABSTRACT

From April 1987 to December 1995,146 patients (Pts) with coronary artery disease (CAD) underwent PTCA. There were 133 male & 13 female with a mean age of 58 (33-76) yrs. The total lesions were 425 including 34 (8.0%) lesions in type A,214 (50. 4%) in type B &. 91 (41. 6%) in type C. The PTCA target lesions were 339 with 37 (8. 7%) total occlusion lesions. Twenty-two lesions had severe dissection following balloon dilatation & successful coronary stenting were done immediately. Another 40 stents were implanted for de novo severe proximal vessel lesions. Five Pts underwent rotational ablation & 3 underwent direct coronary atherectomy. Success dilatation was 95. 9% of total Pts & 95. 6 % of total lesions. The average stenosis in diameter reduced from 89. 1% to 9.8% (P

ABSTRACT

AIM: To screen and identify the differentially expressed genes in lymphocytes of patients with unstable angina in order to find the molecular mechanism of unstable angina. METHODS: Suppression subtractive hybridizations (SSH) and dot blot hybridizations were performed to screen the relatively differentially expressed genes in lymphocyte RNA between the patients with unstable angina pectoris and stable angina pectoris. The obtained expressed sequence tags (ESTs) were used as probes to perform Reverse Northern blot with forward and reverse suppression products. And the positive ESTs were performed RNA slot hybridization with unstable and stable angina group. The obtained ESTs were sequenced and analyzed using BLAST (nr) at NCBI. RESULTS: Three up-regulated ESTs in the unstable angina group, and one down-regulated EST in the stable angina group were obtained. All of them are sequences of known genes. CONCLUSION: All these ESTs may be associated with the unstablization of plaque of coronary artery in patients with unstable angina.
